Head Of Jury for Short Documentaries
Sophia Peer, an award-winning filmmaker from Flushing, Queens, began her career directing short films featuring her parents. Her work blends artistic austerity with meme-worthy humor, as showcased in the pilot episode of her comedy series WHO'S ANNIE?, which premiered at Slamdance 2023 and has since enjoyed a successful festival run. Recognized for her directing and screenwriting talents by Seriesfest, The Gotham, Shore Scripts, and Screencraft, Sophia's diverse portfolio includes music videos for Paramore, Julien Baker, and The National, as well as exhibitions at prestigious venues like the Whitney Museum of Art and MoMA. Currently, she's developing new projects, including a surreal cooking show, her debut feature film, and a doc/scripted hybrid series.
